Sweetpea's - Toronto's Best Florist, Micro Weddings (Order Online)

What is a Micro-Wedding?

Micro-Weddings are the evolution of weddings, in the time of COVID. As gatherings were restricted, micro-weddings provided an intimate, smaller scale option for couples looking to continue with their wedding plans.  Now, they offer a cost-effective option for couples who may not want/need the large, traditional wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Often these ceremonies are for immediate friends and family, held in backyards, private residences, or restaurants. Some event venues, with restrictions in place, may make themselves available, at a reduced capacity, so couples can still experience the normal styling of their original wedding plans, without guests. This allows them to still have their photos taken, as though the ceremony took place as originally planned.

So, we can order our wedding flowers online now?

Well, in a way, yes.

In light of COVID’s affect on the wedding industry, online ordering for Micro-Weddings is a new project for us. This is being done in efforts to eliminate administrative costs for smaller ceremonies, with the focus put towards your flowers, rather than time spent emailing back and forth. In efforts to honour the pricing we have on our online wedding items, we ask that you fill the form in as best as possible, and have the full understanding that this is intended as an efficient and cost-effective option for both sides. Follow-up emails will only be sent, as needed.

We have a lot of helpful prompts, so please read carefully when providing your answers on the individual product pages.

Important items to note: Based on your budget, description and inspiration images, we will provide bouquets and personal flowers, which follow your colour scheme and styling. Speciality items can be requested and best efforts will be made, but we can not guarantee specific types of flowers, or varieties. There is a worldwide flower shortage, which is why sourcing has become increasingly difficult. We ask your understanding and patience, knowing we will do our best to make something beautiful for you on your special day.

Regarding Delivery vs. Curbside Pick-up: We highly recommend curbside pick-up for your Micro-Wedding Florals. There is an option for delivery, however, in order to guarantee a specific time, there is an additional fee, which is available as an option below. When ordering multiple items, we may have to add to your delivery costs in a separate invoice, sent after reviewing your order.

Our wedding bouquets will always come with a small, simple vase, for safe transportation, hydration and as a way to display your bouquet, safely, throughout your event.  This is built into your pricing.

What to expect in terms of size and scale?

A "Basic" Bridal Bouquet is our smallest size available. Expect something quite modest overall, with the general size being around 6-8" in diameter. The number of blooms will vary, depending on what is in season and in stock. The flowers used will be a combination of seasonal blooms, fillers and basic greens (salal, leather leaf fern, ruscus etc). Premium blooms and greenery, such as roses, ranunculus, eucalyptus, etc, will NOT be part of this bouquet. Please keep in mind, that options are limited here, and the florist won't have a lot of product to work with, in terms of intricate designs/styling. Expectations should be in line with this. If you have any concerns, it may be worth moving up to the next size to avoid disappointment.

A "Modest" Bridal Bouquet is very similar in size to our "Basic" bouquet, but with the introduction of higher end blooms. As the name implies, this is a discreet bouquet with the general size being around 7-10" in diameter. The number of blooms will vary, depending on what is in season and in stock. The flowers used will be a combination of seasonal blooms, fillers and basic greens (salal, leather leaf fern, ruscus etc), with a few feature blooms, such as standard or spray roses. The introduction of higher quality greens may be included, but the focus will be to provide size for budget, rather than upgrade the flowers/foliage. Premium blooms and greenery, such as garden roses, ranunculus, eucalyptus, etc, will NOT be part of this bouquet. Please keep in mind, that options are limited here, and the florist won't have a lot of product to work with, in terms of intricate designs/styling. Expectations should be in line with this. If you have any concerns, it may be worth moving up to the next size to avoid disappointment.

A "Standard" Bridal Bouquet is in line with what most brides would consider a "typical" bridal bouquet. The overall size, is intended to sit nicely between the torso, providing a good balance off the bride's shoulders. The general size of this bouquet would be around 10-12" in diameter. Depending on the style requested, greenery may start to stretch out and create a more oblong shape, providing a better sense of width for the budget. The number of blooms will vary, depending on what is in season and in stock. The flowers used will be a combination of seasonal blooms, fillers and a variety of greens, dipping into higher end varieties, with a few feature blooms, such as various roses, ranunculus, dahlias/peonies (based on the season/time of year, of course). The introduction of higher quality greens, such as eucalyptus and exotic foliage, may be included. This is a good place to start if you are hoping for a higher end bouquet, moving towards a more traditional look in terms of size and shape. With this budget, we can also start to provide more artistic and bespoke styling, if that is your preference. We LOVE to create fun and unique bouquets, with a focus on design elements, creative use of foliage and stem placement. For those looking to move in this direction, going for something beyond "something to hold", this price point is where you want to start.

A "Premium" Bridal Bouquet is where we move into a higher end bouquet, more in keeping with what we would have provided for a normal wedding, pre-COVID. The overall size, is intended to sit nicely between the torso, providing a good balance off the bride's shoulders, with a greater sense of scale/draping. The overall size of this bouquet would be around 12-16" in diameter. Depending on the style requested, both blooms and greenery may start to stretch out and create a more oblong shape, providing a sense of opulence in terms of size and scale.
The number of blooms will vary, depending on what is in season and in stock. The flowers used will be a combination of seasonally available blooms, both locally grown and imported. We will see a wider variety of foliage as well, with the focus moving to higher end varieties only using more basic greens to fill in volume as needed. Feature blooms, such as various roses, lisianthus, ranunculus, dahlias/peonies (based on the season/time of year, of course) and other speciality items (scabiosa, astrantia, astilbe, anemones, etc). The introduction of higher quality greens, such as various types of eucalyptus and exotic foliage, will be included. With this budget, we have moved into the area where the pictures you have seen on Pinterest and social media are coming into play. We have entered into a budget where the florists no longer face the same restrictions they would have with lower price points. The overall quality and variety of blooms/foliage have taken centre stage. Creativity, design, shape and styling are back where bridal work is normally and we can really showcase the abilities and talents of the floral team.
